Steady Growth in North Spearfish Spurs Annexation Discussion

In a city council meeting Monday evening, city administrator reveals results of second feasibility study.

The topic of annexation of Lower and Upper Spearfish Valley was under discussion at the Monday evening city council meeting, according to the Black Hills Pioneer. The proposed annexation, if approved, could result in the annexation of the 660 acres in Upper and Lower Valleys in North Spearfish into city limits as early as the end of the year. A second feasibility study has been conducted by the city, and its results revealed that the area has steady growth and development.

This is not the first time that the topic has been under discussion, and it continues to have opponents with those individuals living in the proposed areas.

Further information and history on the annexation topic in Spearfish can be found in our online archives.
