State Sets Tuition Rates and Adds Certificate in Welding for Tech Schools

The South Dakota Board of Education recently set the tuition and fees rates for the state’s technical schools for the upcoming school year. As noted in a news release by the state, the cost per credit hour will be $155. Tuition, maintenance, technology, and facility fees are included in the rate.

A certificate in welding was also approved for two of the state’s four technical institutes—Mitchell and Southeast Technical Institute. The welding certificate at Mitchell Technical Institute will allow students to focus on gas metal, gas tungsten, shielding metal, and flux core arc. At Southeast Technical Institute (STI), the welding certificate will include focus areas of shielding metal, gas metal, flux core, and gas tungsten arc. STI welding certificate students will also be able to test for American Welding Society certification.
