Spearfish Planning Commission Seeks Public Input on McGuigan Ranch Addition

A more detailed plan and description of nearly 75 acres to the McGuigan Ranch was provided to the Spearfish City Council, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. The plan calls for a mixed-use neighborhood which would include about 45 acres for single family lots, 11 acres for multi-family and senior housing, two acres for townhouses, ten acres for roads and right-of-ways and just over five acres for commercial land.

Concerns over speed limits and lighting in the area were raised by Public Works Administrator Cheryl Johnson. She stated that lighting, signage and landscaping would help to make the area seem more residential than it is currently. The Spearfish City Council has final approval of all zoning and development agreement if the change in zoning is approved.
