Spearfish Eyes Consultant For Strategic Plan

The Spearfish City Council will consider hiring a consultant for about $23,000 to facilitate the creation of a five-year strategic plan, the Black Hills Pioneer reports

A strategic plan would put the vision laid out in the city's comprehensive plan, dubbed Envision Spearfish, into motion with measurable and achievable goals, officials said. The contract the council is expected to consider March 2 includes steering committee workbook and planning materials, and various presentations, planning, organization, and facilitation throughout the strategic planning process.

Some council members expressed doubt about the need to spend money on the planning process.
