Rapid City's Sioux San Hospital could lose federal funding, the Rapid City Journal reports. In May 2016 the facility was inspected by the Department of Health and Human Services Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services and deemed to be in a status of immediate jeopardy. This status means that Sioux San Hospital must fix how they screen patients to continue receiving funds from the CMMS reports KOTA TV. The Rapid City Journal and KOTA TV report Indian Health Service says it is in the process of changing leadership to help improve oversight and employee training. Sioux San was the third hospital serving the Native American population in South Dakota told to remedy their facility to continue receiving federal funding.
