Save the VA Medical Center Rally Planned in Hot Springs

“Keep the Promise; Stop the Lies” a Save the VA Medical Center rallly is planned in Hot Springs on May 15th at Centennial Park. The event will begin at 8, followed by a march to the main entrance of the VA at 9, to picket and demonstrate with continued picketing to happen throughout the week.

The “Save the VA” has been a major voice in opposing the December of 2011 proposal by the VA Black Hills Health Care System to close the Medical Center in Hot Springs and to move the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Substance Abuse treatment programs to Rapid City.

With the end of the required Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) coming up, the group wants to draw attention to the continuing trend of diminished health services for veterans in the region.

Although Congressional representatives will not be able to attend, local representatives and other state and local officials are expected to participate.
