Rapid City Regional and West River Behavioral Health met to coordinate efforts to improve mental health treatment in the Black Hills, reports the Rapid City Journal. West River Behavioral Health is a community effort created in March to look for solutions. Rapid City Regional is looking to add eight "safe rooms" to use while helping a patient in a mental crisis to deescalate. These are expected to be built in the next two years. The group is also looking into the idea of a mobile crisis care unit which would include a first response vehicle with staffed professionals.
