Rapid City Police Respond to Rising Crime Rate

Rapid City will likely exceed 2014 rates on violent crime, according to a KOTA news report. With a sixth murder, Rapid City has passed the four of 2014. There have been 240 aggravated assaults in nine months this year, while 2014 saw a total of 294. Police urge looking at multiple years to get a better perspective on the changes. KOTA also reported on some of the RCPD's responses, including asking citizens to report crimes and increasing patrols by the Street Crime unit.

RCPD has published its 2014 crime analysis, covering 2009-2014.
