Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Offer Free Gunlocks Through Project Childsafe Collaboration

Through a collaborative effort with Project ChildSafe, the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are offering free gunlocks to members of the community. As reported by the City of Rapid City, the sheriff’s office and police department hopes to encourage responsible gun ownership and child safety through their efforts.

Developed through the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Project ChildSafe aims to promote gun safety education by distributing gun safety kits. The safety kits include an informational brochure on gun safety as well as a cable locking device for firearms.

The kits are available at the Public Safety Building in Rapid City during business hours while supplies last.
