Rapid City Hosts Statehood Anniversary Celebration Saturday

Rapid City has announced several events for Saturday, November 8.  These are part of the events that started in October to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of South Dakota's statehood.

Saturday's events

2:00 p.m. dedication of Memorial Park Promenade and Legacy Commons; then immediately following we will go to the Journey Museum for the rest of the activities and celebration.

3:00 p.m. dedicate a Black Hills Spruce tree and participate in the filling of a time capsule to be opened in 75 years on South Dakota's 200th Statehood Anniversary.

3:30 p.m. hear from special speaker Wayne Gilbert who will depict the life of leader Valentine McGillycuddy in the Journey Museum Theatre.

4:00 p.m. tour the "Pap" Madison Cabin and Journey Museum followed by social and refreshments in the Gallery until 5:00 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public.
