Rapid City and Pennington County Look to Build New Detox Facility

The Rapid City Journal reports that Police Chief Karl Jegeris requested $900,000 to coordinate building a new detox facility in collaboration with the Pennington County Sheriff's Office.  Currently RCPD takes intoxicated people to the facility at Lacrosse and East Monroe so they have a safe place to sober up.  The facility only has 26 beds.  The new facility would be at 321 Kansas City Street, the old National American University building, and should include more beds for those in need.
