A team composed of members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Civic Center Board of Directors, and the Rapid City Council will take lead on the Civic Center Expansion. This executive task force, the Rapid City Journal reported, was approved by the Civic Center Board of Directors on October 14 and goes before the Legal & Finance Committee on October 15. If approved, this task force will set a schedule on the expansion, educate the public for any votes needed, and work on the financing. The task force will work together until either the groundbreaking of the new expansion, or the city reaches the end of the 30 month deadline to correct the ADA violations at the Civic Center.
