Pine Ridge Girls’ School Awarded Community Innovation Grant

Located in Porcupine on the Pine Ridge Reservation, the Pine Ridge Girls’ School has been awarded a $10,000 Community Innovation Grant through the South Dakota Community Foundation, reports the Rapid City Journal. The grant funding, provided in partnership with the Bush Foundation, will be used to establish a evaluation system for the school’s efficacy.

The school was founded in 2016 and is the first non-religious private girls’ school to be established on a reservation in the country. Board chair Victoria Shorr said that this grant will give the school an opportunity to demonstrate its effectiveness and that the project plans to track the school’s impact on its students and increase its overall affects.
