Pennington County Voters Reject Wheel Tax

The Rapid City Journal reports voters rejected the wheel tax approved by the Pennington County Board of Commission in October.

Rejecting the tax means the county will not have access to any of the Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) money from the state.  The wheel tax would have raised an estimated $2.5 million annually to help pay for road and bridge repairs.  Because voters rejected the tax, commissioners will have to look at other options to make necessary repairs.
