Pennington County Returns To Paper Voting

Electronic poll books that were used in June’s primary election in Pennington County will not be used in the upcoming general election, reports KOTA Territory News.  This was decided following failure of the electronic poll machines at some precincts during the primary.

Instead, voters will cast their votes on paper poll books. Cindy Mohler, auditor elect with the Pennington County Auditor’s Office said that the failures were due to poor connectivity to the internet, which affected processing speed. Pennington County was one of nine counties in South Dakota to experience this issue with the electronic poll machines.

Registration to vote in the November 6th general midterm election closed October 22nd at 5pm. Check your registration and polling place with the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office.
