The Pennington County Commission passed a $87.8 million spending plan for 2017. This amounts to an increase of $3 million from the 2016 budget according to the Rapid City Journal article. County employees will see a wage increase of 2%, but county taxes will go up slightly as the Commission enacted the stored consumer price index tax increase as allowed by state law. The plan passed by a 3-2 vote after some contentious debate on the increase.
