The new social services complex for Pennington County, known as the Care Campus, opened its doors at noon on Monday, September 24th, reports the Rapid City Journal. The 70,000 square foot complex is located inside the renovated former National American University campus at 321 Kansas City Street.
The facility houses several social service programs in one building, including: Pennington County Health and Human Services, the Crisis Care Center, detox, and Safe Solutions, which provides safe spaces and mats for intoxicated people to sleep. The facility expands county treatment space and hopes to streamline the treatment process. Renovations cost $14 million, and Monday’s opening comes three years after the county commission originally voted to purchase the property.
