Parks and Recreation Department in Spearfish Applies for Grant for Sandstone Hills Path

The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department in Spearfish received approval to apply for a grant to create a path in the Sandstone Hills Addition, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. The department applied for a grant offered by South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks in the amount of $68,000. The grant provides 80-20 match, making the city responsible for the remaining $17,000 to fund the project.

Currently, a dirt desire path exists where the parks department is planning on paving the path. The project is currently budgeted to occur in 2017, but the project may be pushed forward to 2018, depending on the award date for the grant.
