The Rapid City Council decided not to build sidewalks on Omaha Street from Lacrosse Street to Western Dakota Tech, but would have staff look into grants for funding the project. According to the Rapid City Journal, the project would have cost $345,000. Nearby businesses had been polled and of those that responded, only Western Dakota Tech was in favor of the sidewalks. This and a two-year old pedestrian count led to the recommendation of not building at this time. Alderman Ron Sasso was the lone holdout, his stance is clarified on his blog.
