No Budging from Either Side During First Keystone Pipeline Hearing

Opposing sides in the debate over the Keystone XL oil pipeline faced off on Monday in front of the state regulatory panel that is considering, for the second time, whether or not to approve the South Dakota route of the proposed pipeline.  According to the Rapid City Journal article, however, both sides of the debate continue to stand firm on their opposing viewpoints, with TransCanada arguing that the pipeline will be safe and create jobs in the U.S. while Dakota Rural Action, the main opposition group, trying to show that the oil company valued profit over safety and had no clean-up plans in place should an oil spill happen over the large aquifer that the pipeline would cross over.
