Last year, Rapid City voters rejected a plan to revise and expand the Civic Center, but ADA issues and other concerns still remain. Last week, the Rapid City Journal reported on Mayor Allender's announcement of the creation of a new task force. The ten-man team will look at how to address the building's issues, what the changes will do, and how to pay for the project.
In choosing the members, Allender avoided anyone with a financial interest in what happens with the Civic Center or who had previously shown a strong opinion. KOTA has more information on the members.
Public meetings will begin later this month. Stories on the Civic Center are tracked in our news archive.
