New Mural to be Painted Downtown

Downtown Rapid City to get a new mural painted by Aaron Pearcy of Box Elder.  The Rapid City Journal reports Pearcy, commissioned by Destination Rapid City, will paint the two story space on the North side of the Elks Theatre building.  The mural will depict the Badlands in coordination with the Main Street Square Badlands-themed sculpture project.

Pearcy contributed art to Art Alley as well as painted the fireman mural at Firehouse Brewing Company.  The new project has a $15,000 budget provided by the Bush Foundation Prize for Community Innovation received in 2014.  This budget will include all aerosol paints, the commercial lift, and artist fees.
