National Forest Trail System Adds Tinton Trail

The Tinton Trail system, near Spearfish, has officially been added to the National Forest System, reports KNBN NewsCenter 1. The addition was first proposed in 2018 by the Ridge Riders of the Black Hills, a local user group.

Tinton Trail is classified for non-motorized use, and its addition to the NFS will allow for its management going forward. Information regarding the use and location of the trail will also be made available to the public, where previously the trail had only been used informally. Signs and markers will be installed along the trail and informational brochures will be made available to users. Preserving the trail and helping users access it are important to both the NFS and the Ridge Riders who proposed its admission to the trail system.
