Mines Researchers Receiving Hundreds of Thousands in Grant Money

Two professors at the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City have managed to secure several hundred thousand dollars in research grants from NASA and the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploring, Inc (SME). The article in the Rapid City Journal stated that the grant from NASA goes towards research into the application of generating power from human waste for manned space missions.  The other grant from SME will help another professor to provide funds for her to do more work and activities in her field to apply towards tenure at the university and provide for the hiring of graduate and undergraduate students to help further her research.
