Meade County Ranchers Get $1.6M From Relief Fund

Meade County was ground zero when Storm Atlas hit western South Dakota in early October 2013, and now that county has collected the biggest share of the $5.4 million South Dakota Rancher Relief Fund set up to assist those who lost livestock.

The chart and maps below break down how much livestock was lost in individual counties and how much from the relief fund was paid to producers in those counties.

The Rancher Relief Fund was established by the Black Hills Area Community Foundation, and donations came in from other South Dakota ranchers and from around the world.
