Lead Revises Open Carry Ordinance

Earlier this month, the Lead City Commission reviewed and revised the city’s policies regarding open carry of firearms, reports the Black Hills Pioneer.  The city’s open carry permit was at odds with state law concerning possession and transportation of firearms.

Previously, the Lead ordinance prohibited open carry of firearms among other weapons including BB guns and sling shots. The ordinance was revised to allow for open carry of firearms in city limits, with the exception of the Lead City Hall. Weapons including sling shots, air guns, bows and arrows remain prohibited from open carry within city limits.
