Lead-Deadwood School District Sub-Contracts Bus Services for Extracurricular Activities

The Lead-Deadwood School District will begin subcontracting buses for extracurricular activities beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. Busing to and from Lead-Deadwood Schools will continue to be managed by the school district.

Two companies under consideration are Trailways of Spearfish and Harlow’s of Sturgis. Currently, the school district utilizes a 14-person bus for extracurricular school trips. However, there are not enough drivers available to transport larger groups of students for activities outside of school.

Requests for proposals are anticipated to be solicited early in the new year with recommendations going before the school board by February 2017.
