Board member Bob Nelson, Jr. submitted his resignation to the Lead-Deadwood School Board at its October 8th meeting, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. It was accepted by the board at that same meeting.
Nelson had served the school district for close to three years, after being appointed to fill another vacancy on the board left by Julie Gardner in December of 2016. Lead-Deadwood School District Superintendent Dr. Dan Leikvold addressed the council at the meeting concerning the appointment process. Leikvold plans to meet with School Board President Suzanne Rogers to discuss the qualified applicants. Rogers will then bring her recommendation to the other board members individually.
The district hopes to have an appointee chosen prior to the next meeting of the board.
