Rapid City is trying one more time to bring Randy Meidinger's lawsuit to an early end. Meidinger was a city landfill scale attendant. When Fish Garbage was investigated for misreporting the content of trucks, Meidinger was fired and tried for grand theft, although he was acquitted. His lawsuit named the City of Rapid City, Mayor Sam Kooiker, and others. A ruling last month removed all defendants except for Police Lieutenant Peter Ragnone. Now, the city has appealed the decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit to end the lawsuit, according to the Rapid City Journal.
