Officers of the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff's Office could soon be wearing body cameras if they receive a grant. The Rapid City Council will vote on an item for the grant on Tuesday. The Rapid City Journal reports that the grant would provide $400,000 for body cameras and the city and county each providing $200,000.
Studies have shown body cameras to reduce arrests and use of force by officers, while officers wearing them have found the body cameras to be helpful in interactions.
