New Student-Teacher Ratio Formula Says South Dakota Has Too Many Teachers

Senate Bill 131, which would raise teacher pay throughout South Dakota, could also impact the number of teachers in the state, reports KOTA-TV. The plan to create teacher funding links the money to student-teacher ratios, and the new formula puts South Dakota over the target number by 400 teachers.

Superintendents of both the Rapid City Area Schools and Meade County have stated that they don't believe either of their districts will be much affected by the new formula, due to their current student-teacher ratios.
