Free Resources Available for Children in Rapid City This Summer

While summer months can be challenging for some students, there are several free resources available to children in Rapid City, reports KOTA News.

One free program that will continue through the summer months is the free transportation offered to students by Rapid Ride. Transit Division manager Rich Sagen indicated hope that the Rapid Ride Youth Ride Free Program will help students who otherwise lack transportation stay mobile this summer.

Students can also keep their reading skills sharp this summer by partaking in the Rapid City Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, which began on May 20. The program challenges students to read for 15 minutes per day for 50 days. Prizes will be available to children to participate and complete the program, including two bicycles.

Youth and Family Services will be offering a Summer Food Program that is free of charge to children under 18. Meals will be offered between May 30 and August 25 this summer.
