Forest Service Seeks Comments on Draft EIS for Steamboat Project East of Nemo

Commercial logging, non-commercial thinning and prescribed burns proposed to improve species diversity and reduce risk of mountain pine beetle and fire.

The Forest Service is proposing commercial timber harvest, non-commercial thinning and prescribed burning in the Steamboat area east of Nemo and west of Piedmont. Officials hope to improve the diversity in this big game winter range and reduce the risk of mountain pine beetle infestation and fire.
