Forest Service Implements Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

The Wall Ranger District is under a Stage 1 Fire Restriction Order due to extremely dry and unseasonably warm conditions. The order issued by Nebraska National Forests & Grasslands covers five districts in Nebraska and South Dakota. The order bans fires on National Forest System lands, including coal, wood and charcoal. Exceptions include developed campgrounds within Forest Service manufactured grates and grills and petroleum fueled stoves and lanterns that meet the fire underwriter's specifications for safety. Smoking is also restricted under the order.
