Fireworks Continue to Be a Fire Hazard in City Areas

While they can't be sold anymore, residents in areas where fireworks are legal can still shoot them off until July 10. Extreme caution is being advised as the area remains in the very high status for fire danger. A Rapid City Journal article reported that the city fire department has already responded to numerous calls to put out small grass fires in the area around Rapid Valley in the last week while police responded to well over two hundred service calls dealing with fireworks in the city in the same time frame.
