Few Black Hills Veterans Using New VA Program

A new VA program, brought on by last year's wait time scandal in Arizona, designed to make it easier for veterans to get private health care and avoid long waits and travel times is not currently catching on with veterans in the Black Hills region.  According to the Rapid City Journal article, only about 2% of the eligible veterans in the region have used the service, which former director of VA Black Hills, Stephen DiStasio, attributed to veterans’ preferences for VA care in the area over non-VA care.
