Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai recently visited Rapid City for a roundtable discussion on telecommunications, reports KOTA News. Senator John Thune, who chairs the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, invited Chairman Pai to take part in the roundtable discussion.
Chairman Pai noted that work needs to be done to ensure that broadband internet access is provided in remote areas, included Native American reservations. He met with tribal officials to discuss the state of internet access on tribal lands and the challenges rural areas have in providing broadband access.
