Ellsworth Air Force Base Deploys Airmen to Afgahnistan

About 300 personnel and several bombers are headed to "southwest Asia."

Ellsworth Air Force Base sent about 300 airmen and several B1 bombers overseas Saturday, according to several media reports.

The Ellsworth crews will be bconducting "missions that are designed to deliver precision and non-precision weapons against enemies," KNBN TV reports.

The deployment will last six to seven months, KOTA TV reports.

One commander said the mission is "to eliminate the Taliban and Al-Qaeda threats."
