October 10, 2014 marks the third annual Electronic Records Day. The day, sponsored by the Council of State Archivists, helps increase awareness of the importance of keeping electronic records. The council provides 10 reasons why electronic records need special attention, including the reminder that scanning paper records is just the beginning of the preservation process.
Locally, Rapid City maintains electronic records of public meeting minutes and agendas. The Black Hills Community Archive contains more scanned documents, including documents on the Powertech Uranium Mine.
