Decision on Sign Agreement Still Up in the Air

In the proposed lawsuit settlement between Rapid City and Epic Outdoor Advertising, City Attorney Joel Landeen has pointed out that city ordnances will be violated if the agreement is approved. According to the Rapid City Journal, they concern the size of the billboards as well as in the creation of new digital billboards, which would violate ordnances that city voters approved in 2011. The organization Scenic Rapid City is also arguing that accepting the agreement terms would set a bad precedent for any future billboard sign issues. The City Council and its new incoming members will have to decide on whether or not to accept the settlement.
