Creekside Elementary Construction Moves Toward Completion

Ainsworth-Benning Construction crews are nearing 70% completion of Spearfish School District’s $1.3 million Creekside Elementary School expansion, according to the Black Hills Pioneer.

The project, which started in December 2014, will include two large additions to the existing Creekside building to better fit the growing student body of the school. The new additions are expected to help house the fast expanding class sizes, which will include at least nine sections of third grade, along with preparing for increases in later classes if numbers remain the same.

Spearfish Superintendent Dave Peters said that while May’s rain held up the construction crews for about a week, crews have been able to work on the additions’ interiors, and construction should be finished July 31.
