Pennington County commissioners have transferred $15,800 from the General Fund to cover a shortfall in the board budget. According to the Rapid City Journal article, the shortfall was mostly caused by the pay raises they gave themselves earlier in the year. The board also wrote off nearly $1.6 million in uncollectable liens owed to the county, most of which was owed by residents who were deceased.
