Civic Center Upgrade Plans Undecided as Deadline Approaches

The deadline for the city to have a plan in place or construction happening to upgrade the Civic Center's Barnett Arena to be ADA-compliant set by the Department of Justice is rapidly approaching two years after voters turned down the construction plans for a new $180 million arena. The Rapid City Journal reports that neither the city or the committee appointed to figure out a plan for the arena have presented a plan to the Civic Center Board, though other upgrades needed have been completed.  The Barnett Arena, however, is the biggest of the ADA issues and the most expensive to fix.
