City of Spearfish Creates Parks and Recreation Director Position

This week, the Spearfish City Council created a parks and recreation director, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. Previously, the recreation center facility director and parks superintendent were responsible for park maintenance in the city. The new position will be tasked with recreation services, administration and organization of the city’s parks, and planning events within the city’s parks.

The person selected for the position will be housed at the recreation center, with a starting annual wage of just over $66,000. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management or a related field.
