City of Spearfish Approves Private Lease for Airport Hangar

The Spearfish City Council recently approved a lease request made by Dale Bakke for a hangar space at the Black Hills Airport, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. The hangar, which will be used for private purposes, will have 40 by 60 foot dimensions. The Black Hills Airport currently leases ten private hangars, although this request is the first made since the city took over sponsorship of the airport from Lawrence County.

The lease is 20 years long an allows for two ten year renewals. The annual rent rate is 12 cents per square foot for noncommercial use, while commercial use requires 15 cents per square foot. While the lease is intended for noncommercial use, there are provisions for subletting the hangar space.
