City Council Will Vote On New City Budget Analyst Position

The Rapid City Council will vote this evening on creating a new budget analyst position for the city, reports the Rapid City Journal.

The council has requested more information about the position from Mayor Steve Allender.  The mayor's answer stated that the change to a priority-based budgeting system will necessitate a budget analyst to help analyze data and streamline spending year-round.  The position will assist in determining if the city is being cost effective in use of taxpayer dollars, and ensure that the proper data are used when articulating why funding will need to be shifted from lower priority programs to higher priority programs.  The position would earn a salary between $48,000 and $72,000 a year.
