Christmas Storm Left 1,000 Pennington County Residents Without Electricity

Nearly 1,000 Pennington County residents were left without power during the winter storm on Christmas Day, reports KOTA News. While most residents have had their electricity restored, five remained without power as of December 30.

The storm took down 200 power poles that were unable to withstand the storm’s strong winds and snow. It is especially difficult to restore power in remote, rural areas, as more poles are required to reach them.
