After a two year delay, Canyon Lake is slated to be dredged this coming spring as reported in the Rapid City Journal. The lake is heavily silted in, which is causing shallower, warmer waters, more algae growth, and less space for the fish in the lake. Funding is now available for the project, and approval from the city council is the last step in starting the process of buying a dredge machine and starting the initial steps to clean the lake. The agenda for that meeting is posted here.
