Canyon Lake Dam Project Delayed

Excessive runoff from Winter Storm Atlas has postponed plans to rebuild the Canyon Lake dam.

Excessive runoff from Winter Storm Atlas has postponed plans to rebuild the Canyon Lake dam. The $3.7 million project will be delayed for a year because of extra runoff from Pactola Reservoir, according to a Rapid City Journal article. The current dam, built after the 1972 flood, needs updating due to cracking and settling.
