In a recent budget workshop, the Belle Fourche City Council preliminarily approved 100 percent of applications for funding allocation in 2019. According to the Black Hills Pioneer, this follows last’s years drop in allocations by 89 percent from 2017, when the 2018 process ended in 15 tied votes and only $25,000 in allotted subsidies to area organizations.
The proposed allocations for 2019 total $155,900 and include subsidies for organizations such as the Belle Fourche Cowboy Band, the Belle Fourche Senior Center, and many more. Another recipient is the Butte County Ambulance service, which is funded by and serves Belle Fourche, Butte County, and Newell, and has been preliminarily allocated $60,00 from the City of Belle Fourche for 2019.
The first reading of the 2019 budget will come before the council September 4th.
